The Illinois Eye Institute sponsors a number of support groups to help individuals with eye diseases or disorders adjust to the resulting life changes. Below is a listing of current support groups available. All groups meet at the Illinois Eye Institute.

Glaucoma Support Group
Third Thursday of every month from 10 am to 11 am
Low Vision Rehabilitation Conference Room

This group is designed to give patients with glaucoma a new spirit of independence. The group strives to offer emotional and educational support to help members maintain as normal a life as possible with limited vision.

Severely Visually Impaired Support Group
Meetings are scheduled as needed in the Low Vision Rehabilitation Conference Room.

This group provides support to patients who are struggling with the social and psychological impact of severe visual impairment. Emphasis is placed on adaptive techniques for enhancing members’ ability to function professionally, personally and socially.
