What
happens in a comprehensive eye examination?
A comprehensive eye examination begins with a brief review of your
health history. The examination continues with an evaluation of
your need for eyeglasses, checks the ability of your eyes to work
together, and assesses the overall health of your eyes. Eyedrops
are used halfway through the examination to dilate your pupils for
a more thorough health and eyeglass evaluation, as well as to assess
the pressure within your eyes.
How long does a comprehensive
eye exam take?
A comprehensive eye examination generally lasts approximately 1
to 2 hours. Your eye examination may be shorter or longer depending
on the complexity of your needs.
Can I get prescriptions for glasses
or contact lenses filled on site?
Yes. IEI has its own optical laboratory where glasses are fabricated
on the premises within 5 to 7 business days. We also stock a wide
variety of contact lenses and coordinate the ordering of contact
lenses from most major contact lens companies. In some cases, the
contact lenses can be mailed directly from the company to your home.
What is your cancellation policy
for appointments?
If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, we ask that
you call 24 hours in advance to cancel.
Will you notify my physician about
the outcome of my visit?
If you have been referred to IEI through your regular optometrist,
ophthalmologist or primary care physician, we will provide a written
report back to your doctor after each visit to our clinic.
