Relationships
The Illinois Eye Institute (IEI) is a division of the Illinois
College of Optometry (ICO), a not-for-profit organization. The
college is a private institution that provides training for the
Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree. IEI provides part of the optometry
student's clinical training. A common Board of Trustees governs
the college and the Institute.
The institution is affiliated with Chicago Eye Institute and the University
of Chicago Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. This
affiliation provides for the care of patients within the Center
for Advanced Ophthalmic Care and the Pediatrics/Binocular Vision
Service by the University of Chicago professional staff and also
allows for the exchange of students and residents.
This institution (IEI/ICO) does not receive payment for the referral
of a patient to any other practitioner or health care facility.
This organization does not pay for patient referrals from any source.
Treatment/Care Decisions
It is the duty of every student, resident, doctor and caregiver
within the organization to assess the needs of each patient and
then inform and educate the patient about the care or treatment
options that meet that patient's needs. Treatment or care recommendations
will never be influenced by the possibility of personal gain to
the caregiver but will always be in the best interests of the patient.
Billing
The Illinois Eye Institute takes great care to ensure the accuracy
of the billing for services. We will make every effort to resolve
billing issues. If you have questions about our financial policies
or billing problems, please call patient financial services at 312/949-7218.
Marketing
The Illinois Eye Institute advertises in order to promote the public
good through education on health issues as well as the institution's
interest. Every effort will be made to ensure that IEI advertisements
are truthful and do not contain deceptive information. Our advertising
campaigns will be sensitive to the health needs of our patients
and the public.
Conflict of Interest
Every effort is made to disclose conflicts of interest on the part
of any member of the Board of Trustees, administrators, doctors
or any other caregiver.
Access to Urgent Care
IEI will provide urgent eye care regardless of a person's ability
to pay.
