Although the human eye does have
a certain degree of natural protection, eye injuries do occur.
Using protective eyewear as a precaution can prevent most eye trauma.
At work, home or play, think about eye safety before you begin any
project. Here are some guidelines:
Use safety glasses or goggles whenever there is a possibility
of impact, flying objects or splashes.
Always point pressurized bottles away from you and the people
around you.
Keep dangerous materials such as sprays, glues and cleaners out
of childrens reach.
Read and follow instruction manuals for power tools, lawn and
garden equipment and sprays.
Be cautious of the inherent danger of using fireworks.
Use protective eyewear when participating in sporting activities
where your eyes can be at risk.
Finally, be sure to teach children about eye safety and choose
appropriate and safe toys.
The Eyewear Center at IEI offers prescription goggles and safety
glasses. For more information, please call us at 877/949-EYES (3937)
